13% Suspicious Transaction Reports from Macau in Q1 2026

There was a 13% increase in Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) from gaming operators in Macao in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, according to information from the Financial Intelligence Office.

STRs from Macao gaming operators represent the largest category of forms (997 out of 1356) filled out as STRs in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting steadily rising counts of visitors and volumes of business completed. STR totals are further augmented with 245 forms from other types of institutions (Financial Institutions and Insurance Companies), there were 242 in the first quarter of last year, and 114 forms (Other Institutions), there were 97 in the first quarter of last year.

The number of STRs filled in by gaming operators this year has continued high compared to last year, and there was a large increase from the fourth quarter of 2025, which had a total of 852 STRs.

Gaming operators comprised (73.5%) the total number of STRs compared to (72.4%) the total number of STRs filled last year at this time.
