Angola’s Institute of Games Supervision (ISJ) has established a transitional licensing framework, allowing eligible operators a period of 30 days for provisional licensing under the newly established Gaming Activity Act in the country.
The new regulations went into effect on July 1 stipulating the transitional framework in the regulation circular read during a meeting with the industry on June 29.
The transitional is made to aid players to operate pending finalisation of regulations plus procedures for issuance of new licenses.
This scheme applies to operators whose licenses have expired after the coming into place of the Gaming Activity Act, as well as to those whose licenses were preceding the enactment of the new law but had signaled their interest to the ISJ of continuing operation.
Under the transitional framework, applications for provisional licensing should be submitted in the period of 30 working days to the agency through the SSJ platform.
As per ISJ, the objective of the temporary regime is to provide certainty to the industry and stability in the market, thus creating a roadmap of implementing the new licensing regime under the Gaming Activity Act legislation.
