Australia blocks 10 more illegal gambling websites

Australia has ramped up its actions against the unregulated gambling sector, as now the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has ordered internet service providers to block another 10 illegal gambling websites.

This set of websites includes Zizobet, KingAUD, Lucky Vibe, Daily Spins, Gambiva, Hot Pokies Group, Pokies99, Betcoin, TenoBet and Lightning-bet.com, which have been identified by the regulator as operating illegally in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The ACMA claims that the Lightning-bet.com website is created in a way to confuse customers as it looks like a similar licensed site called LightningBet.

In total, the regulator has blocked a whopping 1,774 illegal gambling and advertisement operating websites since it has started ISP blocks back in November 2019.

More widely, over 230 foreign gambling service businesses left the country since the ACMA stepped up its efforts against gambling operators in 2017.

The regulator also continues to alert players that foreign gambling companies cannot offer the same level of protection to their clients as licensed Australian companies do, making it even more crucial for consumers to check their operators through ACMA’s public registry of authorized betting companies.
