BetMGM UK to start a new partnership with The Jockey Club

BetMGM UK has been unveiled as the fresh sponsor of the County Hurdle, the prestigious £100,000 Premier Handicap contested over an extended two miles, set to feature on the fourth and final day of The Cheltenham Festival next week (Friday 15th March, known as Gold Cup Day).

Since its inaugural run in 1920, the County Hurdle has been a highlight of the festival, with Trespasser clinching victory in its maiden edition. Notably, Willie Mullins, the Festival’s most triumphant trainer boasting 94 wins, secured his sixth triumph in the race in 2022 with State Man. Last year witnessed Dan Skelton celebrating his fourth victory in the County Hurdle as his 33-1 shot Faivoir triumphed. The race consistently draws a full field, presently capped at 26 runners.

In a thrilling collaboration, BetMGM, the esteemed online betting and gaming brand, assumes the role of Official Betting Partner of The Jockey Club, and will prominently feature its branding across several flagship races and racedays at Jockey Club Racecourses.

Alongside the BetMGM County Hurdle, these partnerships encompass the Grade Two Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter and the Grade Two Elite Hurdle at Wincanton, both taking place during The West Country Weekend in November. Furthermore, BetMGM will be part of the action during the races held at Cheltenham’s Christmas Meeting in December.

In BetMGM’s captivating new television advert for the Cheltenham Festival, renowned Hollywood star Chris Rock declares:

At BetMGM, we’re experts at putting on a spectacle. Welcome to the dazzling Cheltenham – the greatest show on earth, Vegas style. Prepare to be amazed. Wager £10 and receive £60 in free bets. This is the golden age of the Cheltenham Festival. BetMGM – It’s Showtime!

Expressing anticipation for the Cheltenham Festival, Sam Behar, the UK Director at BetMGM, remarked:

We’re thrilled to sponsor the County Hurdle. This marks our brand’s debut at the Festival, and we’ve celebrated it in grand style. We’re committed to delivering an engaging betting experience for racing enthusiasts nationwide, and we’ve certainly gone above and beyond by offering customers leading market incentives.

In response to the partnership, Matt Powell, Acting Director of Partnerships at The Jockey Club, stated:

We’re delighted to introduce this exciting new collaboration, and what better way to kick it off than with the BetMGM County Hurdle, one of the most fiercely contested events at The Cheltenham Festival. This marks just the beginning of what we anticipate to be a robust and enduring alliance between BetMGM and The Jockey Club.
