An initiative underway in Buenos Aires Province seeks to enhance regulations for online gambling sites by establishing limits on gaming sessions, daily access and biometric authentication.
Provincial deputy Mayra Mendoza spearheads this effort, which is set to impact all seven licensed operators of the Casino and Lottery Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires (IPLyC). Successful implementation of the initiative may boost the country’s growing online gambling industry ahead of the World Cup in 2026.
According to the bill, players will be allowed only sixty minutes of gaming sessions before they will be logged out and forced to wait at least one hour before logging in again.
Players will also be limited to three logins during the day and receive reminders about responsible gaming. If the daily limit is exceeded the users will lose access until the next day.
This new steps are aimed to deal with problematic gambling and protect users from any dangers.
While the bill proposes that the process of identity verification will be modified with the introduction of instant face recognition technology for players who log into their accounts or deposit money, other efforts in the sphere of gambling will also be initiated to protect minors, change the identity verification procedure and ensure proper advertisement regulation.
The bill will now move to the relevant parliamentary committee for further review.
