Cambodia’s government has closed down 72 casinos in the latest move of its year-long nationwide campaign against online scam locations and related criminal activities.
Authorities have executed a crackdown on the licensed casino sector in Cambodia as part of broader efforts to tackle telecom fraud, internet scams, and organized crimes.
The government announced the completion of raids on 737 suspected cyber fraud locations from June 2025 to June 2026 by means of which authorities conducted inspections at 28,512 sites across the country.
The report indicated that of 72 closed casinos, 19 had their licenses revoked due to their suspected involvement in online fraud cases, while 30 casinos had their licenses suspended and 23 stopped operating after their licenses expired.
Authorities have also inspected 665 locations suspected of being involved in online fraud, discovering 582 active scam sites and 83 locations believed to be hiding members of criminal networks. As a result, 537 locations have been shut down.
Up until the end of June 2026, Cambodia has deported 21,102 foreigners coming from 38 different countries as part of the ongoing crackdown. Moreover, 268 criminal cases involving 2,773 suspects have been prosecuted, proving the large scale of the government campaign.
