Evolution faces growing regulatory pressure in Europe

Swedish live casino supplier Evolution Group has reported largely flat full-year results for 2025, as regulatory pressures and market volatility in Europe weighed on performance. Total net revenue for the year remained near the prior level at approximately €2.07 billion, with Europe showing weaker growth compared with other regions.

Evolution’s Live Casino business continued to account for the bulk of sales, comprising roughly 86 % of group revenue, while operating profit declined from €1.42 billion in 2024 to about €1.26 billion in 2025, reflecting rising costs and compliance-related adjustments in key European markets.

CEO Martin Carlesund pointed to increasing regulatory pressure across several European markets, noting that stricter compliance requirements and enforcement actions continue to affect operational efficiency and short-term performance, while reiterating the company’s commitment to long-term sustainable growth through regulated markets.

Company has implemented stricter ring-fencing measures to ensure its games are only supplied in locally licensed markets, but those actions have increased operational costs and limited near-term growth in parts of the region.

Despite these pressures, Evolution pointed to other markets – including North America, Latin America and parts of Asia — as areas of growth potential. The supplier also continues to navigate regulatory reviews in the UK and is progressing with its acquisition of Galaxy Gaming amid evolving licensing requirements.

Overall, Evolution’s growth through 2025 shows how providers and operators are suffering from a combination of location instability, local restrictions, and security concerns. Different regions offer opportunities for greater expansion and development, while EU zones remain limited.

In 2026, operators dependent on Evolution AP and their related companies should expect compliance and security to be a priority.
