Flutter receives formal approval of its science-based targets

Flutter Entertainment Plc has proudly announced the formal approval of its near and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Furthermore, Flutter’s net-zero science-based target for 2035 has been verified by SBTi.

Aligned with the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard and consistent with a 1.5°C trajectory in accordance with the Paris Agreement goals, Flutter’s net-zero target signifies a crucial commitment.

The approved Scope 1, 2, and 3 targets are detailed as follows:

  • Overall Net-Zero Target: Flutter pledges to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions across its value chain by 2035. This commitment is delineated as follows:
  • Near-Term Targets: Flutter aims to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 45% by 2030 from a 2022 baseline. Similarly, Flutter commits to a 45% reduction in absolute scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe.
  • Long-Term Targets: Flutter endeavors to decrease absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2035 from a 2022 baseline. Additionally, Flutter pledges a 90% reduction in absolute scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe.

Flutter will diligently report on progress towards these targets, alongside its approach to managing climate-related risks and seizing opportunities.

Sue Albion, Flutter’s Group Director of Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs, emphasized the company’s dedication to advancing environmental sustainability. She highlighted Flutter’s commitment to tracking carbon footprints, reducing emissions, and collaborating with supply chain partners in this endeavor. Albion underscored the significance of setting clear, science-based targets and ensuring accountability in achieving them as integral to Flutter’s journey towards sustainability.
