GLI to test online casino games in New Zealand

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) was approved to test online casino games in New Zealand. GLI will offer independent testing and compliance services for regulated online gambling market.

The approval also lets GLI help the providers and operators who want to enter the market. The testing lab will help operators to meet all requirements of New Zealand’s Online Casino Gambling Act 2026.

Richard Howarth, managing director of Asia-Pacific for GLI, stated that New Zealand is a significant milestone in regulated online gaming for the region. Furthermore, Howarth noted that the organization is well prepared to assist operators and suppliers navigate the technical requirements that they need to comply with in their efforts to become licensed and establish their presence in the market.

The approval from GLI coincides with New Zealand’s intention to regulate online gaming operations. The Department of Internal Affairs was the body responsible for holding the licensing bidding on September 29, 2026, after which operators who expressed their interest became eligible to apply for licenses. So far, no specific information has been provided as to how many operations participated in the auction or their identities.

The company has been providing testing, certification and cybersecurity services to gaming operators and regulators in more than 710 jurisdiction all over the globe, with its laboratory established in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

The New Zealand accreditation follows other similar events in different regions.
