Curaçao-based gaming supplier Goodwin NV has been banned from Sweden by Spelinspektionen, the country’s gambling regulator, due to non-compliance.
Goodwin NV was banned from the Swedish market after Spelinspektionen discovered it was operating without a licence, confirmed by a beta test allowing Sweden-based users to create accounts. This breach of the Gambling Act follows a similar ban on Curaçao-based Versus Odds BV earlier this month. Goodwin NV may appeal the decision, but the ban is effective immediately, with potential financial penalties if it fails to comply. Sweden has recently intensified its regulatory efforts, joining the Macolin Convention against match-fixing and introducing new anti-money laundering initiatives through BOS.
Towards the end of last year, the Swedish Gambling Authority outlined its 2025 budgetary framework, emphasizing its focus on stricter supervision of unlicensed gambling and combating match-fixing. Recently, the Authority addressed concerns by denying allegations of a data breach in the Spelpaus self-exclusion system, following speculation from local journalists.
