Hasbro Strikes Monopoly Licensing Deal With iGaming Partners

Global board gaming company Hasbro has announced deals with Aristocrat Gaming, Evolution, Galaxy Gaming, and Bally’s, to allow the online casino software makers to create licensed games based on the company’s Intellectual Properties (IPs).

Some Monopoly games already exist, primarily through an existing collaboration between Hasbro and Evolution, but online casino players will soon see additional Monopoly games as well as slots and other games featuring titles like Yahtzee and Battleships.

Slots are the most popular form of online casino games. They are easy to learn and offer some of the most generous payouts of all casino titles. Their availability on offshore casino sites means they are available to players around the world, including in casinos in Georgia. Online casinos use generous bonuses, as well as sizeable prizes, to attract players, according to online gambling expert Viola D’Elia.

Casinos also use recognizable genres and attractive themes to attract players. Monopoly, as one of the most popular board games of all time, is recognized by people from around the world and has been part of the Hasbro stable since the US-based company acquired Parker Brothers in 1991. It is estimated that, since its introduction in 1935, nearly 300 million copies of the game have been sold.

Its popularity means it is no surprise that game makers have been clambering over themselves to acquire the license to the Monopoly name. Evolution has already developed games in partnership with Hasbro, launching the Monopoly Live and Monopoly Big Baller games.

According to the new deal, Evolution will continue to develop online slots and online live games using Hasbro brands. Online live games utilize live dealers to increase immersion and playability and are becoming increasingly popular across online and mobile casinos.

Evolution’s Todd Haushalter said of the deal:

The team and I are incredibly excited to bring the Hasbro Games brands to all our various brands. I think Monopoly is the world’s best casino game brand and we can do so many great things with it, and, of course, with many other Hasbro Games brands.

Monopoly is the primary area of focus for the deals with Aristocrat, who will develop land-based slot machines based on the game, and Bally’s, who will offer Monopoly-themed B2C casino content.

Players will also be able to enjoy themed online table games, thanks to the deal with Galaxy Gaming, which will not only put out Monopoly-themed games but will also produce content using Hasbro’s other gaming brands, like Battleship, itself considered one of the best-selling board games of all time

Claire Hunter Gregson, Director of Gaming Relationships at Hasbro, said of the new raft of agreements:

We’re all about play – and that means meeting our fans wherever they are, from the game table to the casino floor. These visionary new partners have the expertise and imagination to reimagine our brands in bold, exciting ways for adult audiences.
