KSA intervenes as Holland Casino and Vbet offer own goal betting

The Netherlands Gaming Commissioner Kansspelautoriteit has intervened because of the risk of game-fixing in relation to Holland Casino Online and Vbet offering to gamble on own goals.

The operator’s practice of offering to bet on a player scoring an own goal has been given an external report and the KSA reviewed the findings and determined that these bets are in violations of their allowable gambling types as they are viewed as negative events, which will have a higher probability of manipulation.

The investigation also indicated that Holland Casino Online and Vbet are the only licensed gambling operators in the Netherlands that have consistently allowed wagers on own goal events.

After being contacted by KSA, both operators have removed the own goal wagers from their websites as well as implemented measures to prevent the re-introduction of own goal wagers. The KSA noted that both operators were responsive and addressed the issue promptly and no additional enforcement action would need to occur.

The action taken by KSA is consistent with the KSA Sports Betting Integrity Policy published in December 2025, which identifies gambling on prohibited types of sporting events under Dutch law.
