Massachusetts set a new sports betting revenue record in January, reaching $94.4 million (£74.6 million/€90.2 million).
This marks a 32.8% increase from the $71.1 million recorded in January 2024 and surpasses the previous record of $75.4 million in September 2024 by 25.2%.
As mentioned by Massachusetts Gaming Commission, online sports betting contributed $93.6 million, while retail betting added $778,953. Despite an industry-wide slowdown in January, Massachusetts bucked the trend, contrasting with Pennsylvania’s 26.4% year-on-year revenue decline.
Total betting handle hit $762.5 million, up 17.0% year-on-year and just 3.3% below December’s record $788.3 million. Online bets accounted for $751.4 million, while retail wagering stood at $11.1 million. The state also posted a 9.32% hold rate for the month.
