Matthew Charlesworth is returning to Imagine Live as Chief Development Officer, rejoining the company he previously led as CEO.
His comeback follows a brief break after stepping down from the top role, which Martin Martirosyan assumed in January 2025.
Charlesworth had shared on LinkedIn that he left due to the intense workload and a desire to improve his work-life balance. At the time, he was alternating between three weeks on-site and three weeks remote — a routine he found unsustainable.
Despite stepping aside, Charlesworth remained in close contact with Martirosyan and kept up with the company’s progress. Since then, Imagine Live has grown rapidly, doubling its number of live casino tables from 50 to over 100 and expanding its team from 500 to more than 1,000 employees.
A key milestone in this growth is the planned launch of a new live casino studio in Bucharest, Romania, indicating further European expansion.
Charlesworth’s new role aligns more closely with his passion for product development and innovation, allowing him to focus fully on these areas without the demands of overseeing the entire company. He expressed excitement about reengaging with the parts of the business he values most – working closely with innovative products and talented people.
His return is expected to strengthen Imagine Live’s development roadmap as the company scales up its live casino operations. With over 20 years of industry experience, including roles at Paddy Power Betfair and Entain, Charlesworth brings deep expertise in live casino operations and product leadership.
Imagine Live has built a reputation for delivering high-quality live casino products and continues to target regulated markets across Europe and beyond. The new studio in Bucharest reflects a strategic move to leverage Romania’s strong regulatory framework and skilled, multilingual dealer base.
Bringing Charlesworth back as CDO is a clear effort to boost the company’s innovation engine, with Martirosyan now focused on operations and market expansion.
