MGA investigates potential breach of its technology

Malta’s Gaming Authority (MGA) has identified a potential breach to one of its technology systems. As a result, the MGA has initiated its internal procedures for responding to such breaches.

Immediately following the breach being identified, the MGA implemented precautionary containment and mitigation measures, and made available all necessary technical and operational resources to assist with the investigation going forward.

At this time, the investigation is still ongoing; however, preliminary findings suggest that the breach may have been perpetrated by a person who claims to be a security researcher. Therefore, and in addition to determining the full details relating to the breach, the MGA will ensure that it has the appropriate safeguards in place once an appropriate investigation has been conducted.

The MGA is committed to treating this serious matter with the utmost importance and is currently liaising closely with relevant authorities and technical teams to fully evaluate this incident. Further updates will be provided to impacted parties in a timely manner.
