New York lawmakers propose mandatory monthly betting statements under new bill

New York legislators have introduced a bill that would require online sports betting operators to provide mandatory monthly activity statements to customers, as part of broader efforts to promote transparent wagering behaviour and strengthen responsible gambling safeguards in the state’s regulated market.

The proposal spearheaded by members of the New York State Assembly seeks to establish a formal requirement for all licensed sports betting providers to issue a comprehensive monthly summary directly to bettors.

These statements would detail key account activity, including total bets placed, net wins or losses, time spent wagering, deposits, withdrawals, and bonus usage, offering customers a clearer picture of their gambling behaviour.

Supporters of the bill argue that regular statements would help bettors better understand and manage their wagering activity, potentially reducing risky behaviour and contributing to more informed decision-making. The measure aligns with a growing trend within the U.S. regulatory landscape toward enhanced transparency and consumer protection tools for online gambling. markets.

Operators would have fifteen days after each month to submit the report. The bill still needs to be considered by the Assembly Racing and Wagering Committee before it enters parliament and then becomes law.

If adopted, it would enter into force on January 1, 2027, giving the commission sufficient time to prepare.
