In August, New York’s mobile sports betting handle reached $1.44 billion, marking a 28.8% year-on-year increase and a 13% rise from July’s $1.26 billion.
According to the New York State Gaming Commission, revenue stood at $125 million, up 26.9% from August 2023 but 10.9% lower than July 2024.
FanDuel and DraftKings dominated, accounting for about two-thirds of the gross gaming revenue (GGR). FanDuel saw a 25.1% rise in GGR to $52.6 million from a $511.6 million handle. DraftKings led in handle with $526.7 million, up 17.9% year-on-year, but trailed FanDuel in GGR at $43.4 million, up 22.9%.
BetMGM and Caesars were the only other operators to exceed a $100 million handle. BetMGM’s handle surged 82.9% to $127.9 million, though its GGR rose just 7% year-on-year to $7 million. Caesars recorded a $119.9 million handle and $9.4 million GGR, both slightly down from August 2023. Wynn Interactive did not take any bets as it shut down operations before the ESPN Bet launch.
The state’s 51% GGR tax generated $63.8 million for education funding.
