Novomatic secures 10-year Dutch licence extension from KSA

The Dutch regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has granted Novomatic a 10-year extension on its gaming vendor licence, allowing the company to continue supplying gaming machines to slot casino venues for another decade.

This extension was made possible after certain unspecified special conditions, which previously might have blocked such a renewal, were removed. With strong collaboration between its legal compliance department and broader legal team, Novomatic secured the long-term licence to maintain its distribution of slot machines and other land-based gaming products in the Netherlands.

This development follows recent changes within Novomatic’s Dutch operations, including the appointment of Dr. Alexander Legat as the new CEO for the Netherlands in September 2024. Additionally, in the broader European market, Tipico finalized the acquisition of Novomatic’s Admiral Group in Austria this January, gaining full ownership of Atlas Group GmbH.

Meanwhile, the KSA recently issued a weekly penalty payment order to operator Starscream, instructing the company to halt all unauthorized online casino activities in the Netherlands. The regulator also reported a total gambling revenue of €1.47 billion for 2024.
