Pennsylvania: Rising iGaming drives total casino revenue up 11.6% in January

In January, the total gaming revenue of Pennsylvania’s casinos amounted to $590.6 million, which is an increase of 11.6% year-on-year. Out of this, almost half of the revenue or $249.3 million was generated by iGaming.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has revealed that the tax revenue from this has reached $250 million.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville was the top earner among all casinos in January with a revenue of $111.4 million, which represents an increase of 20.2%. Valley Forge Casino Resort was second with $105.8 million, an increase of 8.2%, whereas Rivers Casino Philadelphia generated $57.2 million, an increase of 11.6%.

Slot machine revenue in the entire state of Pennsylvania totaled $189.1 million in January, which is only 0.7% higher than the figure of the previous year. Parx Casino was the most successful slot operator with revenue of $29.2 million; however, this is a decrease of 2.5% compared to last year. Wind Creek Bethlehem’s slot revenue went down by 0.7% to $21.1 million, while Rivers Casino Pittsburgh generated $20.8 million, an increase of 1.1%.

In the iGaming sector, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course topped the list with $96.2 million in revenue, representing an increase of 20.7%. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with a revenue of $67.7 million, going up by 16.6%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia produced $40.1 million, which was up by 13.2%.

Sports betting revenue amounted to $71.4 million with a total gaming bet (handle) of $782.4 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort led the earnings at $27.6 million from a $276.3 million handle.

Hollywood Casino at the Meadows raised $22.7 million from a $235.8 million handle, while Hollywood Casino York had a revenue of $5.6 million from a $56.3 million handle.
