PlayCity rolls out online complaints tool in Ukraine to combat illegal gambling ads

A new digital reporting system for illegal gambling ads has been launched by PlayCity, which allows users to make reports about advertisements in numerous ways, such as via social media, websites and more.

The PlayCity regulator is now responsible party for regulating gambling and lotteries, since the Ministry of Digital Transformation obtained the Federal Government’s ability to regulate.

The former agency, the Federal Gambling and Lottery Commission, was disbanded in April 2024 due to its continued delays in providing licences for gambling.

In order to report an advertisement, users must indicate what platform contained the advertisement, provide a direct link to the advert and upload supporting evidence in the form of a screenshot or video.

Reports of advertisements received by PlayCity will be reviewed and considered to be violations of the country’s advertising standards. If confirmed, the advertiser may receive a removal request via the appropriate authorities, including Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, Viber, and Twitch. Furthermore, they may also be blocked from placing ads again and face monetary penalties.

This reporting tool can now be found on the PlayCity website, which allows the public to play a direct role in reporting illegal advertisements.
