PM Shinawatra urges support for entertainment complex bill

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has urged coalition lawmakers to step up efforts to raise public awareness about the proposed Entertainment Complex Bill.

Speaking after a cabinet meeting in Nakhon Phanom province, Shinawatra highlighted that the bill introduces a new concept to Thailand and requires public engagement to explain its economic benefits. She pointed to Japan as an example of a country already implementing similar projects.

The Prime Minister stated that the initiative is designed to attract foreign private investment, which would generate vital tax revenue amid fiscal constraints. She also noted that the project could boost employment in industries like entertainment and event management.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, mentioned:

This proposal will allow the government to collect taxes from foreign investment while stimulating employment and expanding tax income. It is an approach that fits the economic needs of the country.

We have time before the next session starts. I brought this idea forward because I truly believe it will benefit the country. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have pushed for it.

Shinawatra confirmed that she has discussed the bill with coalition party leaders, who all support advancing the proposal. While each party may promote the bill to their constituents in their own way, there is consensus on its importance.
