President Donald Trump Calls for Exclusive CFTC to Review Regulations Placed on Prediction Markets

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has publicly called for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) about prediction market authority as the ongoing political and regulatory debate continues to intensify.

Trump has posted on Truth Social about this issue and labeled it as “critically important” for the CFTC to maintain jurisdiction over prediction markets. He believes that a united federal framework is needed to continue developing in that sector. There are disputes between state regulators and prediction market operators such as Kalshi and Polymarket. Someone needs to govern these platforms.

Some remarks have been made from several U.S. states that either challenge or resist prediction platforms.

Trump has also criticized a couple of political figures who opposed the expansion of prediction markets.

The core of the debate is the regulatory status of prediction markets – users can trade contracts of real-world events. Some believe that they function as financial tools, while others want stricter regulations.

As Kalshi and Polymarket continue to expand their influence over the US market, some states started to pay more attention to this dispute.
