In South Africa, the proposed RGB 2024 bill aims to regulate online gaming through a provincial licensing system, stricter advertising controls, and compliance with FICA. The country has seen a 41% rise in wagering activity, fueled by sports betting and the success of national teams like the Springboks.

Zambia is moving forward with its National Gaming and Lotteries Policy, establishing a regulatory board to align its gaming industry with international standards. Similarly, Angola has approved a new gaming law introducing a five-year online gaming license, streamlining regulations to attract local and international investors.

Botswana, committed to sectoral growth, issued 16 new licenses in October 2024, including 10 for betting and 6 for limited payout machines, reflecting strong local operator interest.

Attendees at BiG Africa Summit 2025 will gain insights into these regulatory shifts, market trends, and innovative marketing strategies aimed at enhancing player engagement and retention across Southern Africa’s thriving iGaming sector.
