Spelinspektionen launches campaign on gambling risks

The Swedish gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has launched a campaign targeting young adults to emphasize the risks and consequences of gambling for money.

Titled “With your future as a bet,” the campaign is directed at individuals aged 18 to 25 and aims to raise awareness about the dangers of unhealthy gambling through emotionally impactful messages.

The initiative is promoted across digital platforms popular with the target demographic. Additionally, a dedicated page on the Spelinspektionen website provides comprehensive information about gambling and directs young people to support resources.

Yvonne Hejdenberg, Spelinspektionen’s Head of Communications said:

Many young people encounter some form of gambling for money through computer games and apps. Through this campaign, we aim to discuss the consequences of unhealthy gambling in an emotional way. We believe that the campaign will also resonate with adults, particularly parents or relatives of individuals in the target group.

The campaign is a collaborative effort with the Swedish Public Health Agency and the Swedish Crown Prosecutor, aiming to reduce the negative impacts of gambling on young people.

In other news, Spelinspektionen recently took action against two game developers, Hacksaw Gaming and Panda Bluemoon, for their involvement with unlicensed online gambling sites in January. Hacksaw Gaming was fined SEK2.6 million ($250,000), while Panda Bluemoon received a penalty of SEK700,000.
