National gambling regulator Spelinspektionen reported that gross revenue from regulated gambling in Sweden reached a new quarterly record of SEK 6.89 billion in the second quarter.
Revenue was up 2.68% year-on-year and 3.3% compared to the first quarter.
Online gambling contributed the largest share of revenue at SEK 4.57 billion, up 9.2% year-on-year. This offset a 7.5% drop in national lottery revenue to SEK 1.29 billion, the lowest since the first quarter of 2020.
Svenska Spel’s Casino Cosmopol generated revenue of SEK 33 million, down 73% year-on-year, after the closure of land-based casinos in Malmö and Gothenburg, leaving only the brand’s casino in Stockholm open.
Revenue from the charity lottery fell slightly to SEK 893 million, while revenue from the bingo hall remained stable at SEK 52 million. Revenue from the restaurant casino increased slightly to SEK 56 million. Meanwhile, Spelpaus, the Swedish self-exclusion service, had 112,000 registrations at the end of the quarter, up 1.7% from the previous quarter.
