Swedish gambling industry surpasses $655m in revenue in Q3

Regulated gambling operators in Sweden made over 655 million dollars in the third quarter of the year.

The recorded revenue figure represents an over 7% increase in comparison to the 605 million dollar figure from the same quarter of the prior year.

From the total over 410 million dollars were generated from online gambling companies, showing a 10% growth for the vertical compared to the same period in 2021. Furthermore, iGaming revenue has set a new record in the jurisdiction in Q3, surpassing the second quarter’s previous achievement by 2%.

Additionally, the country’s retail gambling vertical saw quite a significant amount of growth of about 23% since 2021, making over 560 thousand dollars in the period. This is mostly thanks to the easing of pandemic restrictions at the end of last year.

Lastly, the Swedish government’s Svenska Spel lottery and gambling ventures made over 130 million dollars, growing by about 1% year-on-year.

Along with the revenue figures, at the end of the report the Spelinspektionen also published the number of self-excluded players in the country. This was reported to be a bit over 81 thousand people, growing by about 5% from the second quarter of the year.
