Swiss regulators tighten controls on online gambling

Swiss gambling regulators have recently expanded their blacklist of banned iGaming operators in a bid to crack down on illegal gambling activities in the country.

The Swiss Federal Gambling Board (SFGB) has added eight new gambling operators to its blacklist, bringing the total number of banned sites to 19. The newly added operators include several well-known brands such as Bet365, Bwin and Unibet.

The SFGB said that these operators were found to be in violation of Swiss gambling laws, which require all online gambling operators to obtain a license from the Swiss government in order to operate legally in the country. The newly blacklisted operators were found to be offering their services to Swiss customers without a proper license, a clear violation of Swiss gambling regulations.

The SFGB also took action against several affiliated companies that were found to be promoting the services of these illegal operators. These affiliates have been ordered to cease all advertising activities related to the blacklisted operators and face potential fines for engaging in illegal online gambling activities.

In addition to expanding the blacklist of banned operators, the SFGB also announced that it would step up its monitoring and enforcement efforts to further crack down on illegal online gambling in Switzerland. The SFGB said it would work closely with law enforcement and other regulators to identify and stop illegal online gambling operations in the country.

Swiss gambling regulators have also called on Swiss internet service providers to block access to the websites of blacklisted operators to prevent Swiss customers from accessing their services. The SFGB warned that Swiss customers who continue to use illegal operators could face criminal charges and fines.

The expansion of the blacklist of prohibited operators is part of a larger effort by Swiss gambling regulators to combat illegal online gambling activities in the country. The SFGB said it will continue to monitor the online gambling market in Switzerland and take action against any operators found to be in violation of Swiss gambling laws.

Overall, the expansion of the blacklist of prohibited operators is a significant development in the ongoing fight against illegal online gambling in Switzerland. The SFGB’s efforts to clamp down on illegal operators and their affiliates demonstrate the company’s commitment to protecting Swiss consumers and ensuring the integrity of the Swiss gambling market.
