Thailand tightens fight against illegal online gambling

Thailand is working on improving illegal gambling websites and copyright violations during the FIFA World Cup 2026 transmissions. The actions were planned by Digital Economy and Society Ministry of Thailand with MonoMax.

Ms. Nan Buntida Somchai, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, discussed the prevention of illegal websites and piracy with Mr. Navamin Prasopnet, CEO of MonoMax. Nan Buntida Somchayi noted that the government is working seriously against illegal gambling throughout the country, which is being monitored especially during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In addition to discussions, actions were also taken from June 10-24. During this period, the Illegal Website Monitoring Center blocked more than 12,671 URLs related to online gambling.

More than four thousand of these links have been removed at the request of court. The rest is deleted by social networks Facebook, X, Instagram.

Ms. Nan noted that the government is implementing 24-hour monitoring and crackdowns on illegal online activities. The ministry is ready to work closely with the private sector to combat illegal websites and platforms.

The cooperation will accelerate coordination and removal efforts while helping to prevent crimes that affect the public, society and the digital economy.
