Ukraine regulator teams up with YouTube to tackle illegal gambling ads

PlayCity has announced a new partnership with YouTube aimed at speeding up the removal of illegal gambling advertising.

The regulator said the collaboration will enable faster detection of violations and immediate takedown of prohibited content.

The agency stated on its official Telegram channel:

We have begun collaborating with the YouTube platform to respond more quickly and block illegal gambling advertising.

By integrating its monitoring systems with YouTube’s tools, PlayCity expects to significantly reduce response times between identifying and removing illegal ads.

The cooperation is already showing results. Authorities confirmed that a channel with more than 3,000 subscribers was blocked for promoting gambling ads, while a video advertising an illegal casino was removed from another channel with over 133,000 subscribers.

Officials say the initiative is part of a broader effort to tighten control over gambling-related content and improve enforcement, alongside existing measures such as fines for advertising violations.

At the same time, Ukraine is digitizing its licensing system. The Ministry of Digital Transformation, in cooperation with PlayCity, has moved all gambling license applications to the Diia platform. Operators can now register, submit documents, and sign forms electronically, with licenses issued within minutes.
