A recent operation by Vietnamese police since July 4 has uncovered nearly $75 million in illegal gambling and betting transactions. Following the operation, number of arrests, detentions and seizures were taken against individuals involved.
The Criminal Police Department summoned 26 people for questioning and seized 45 phones, iPads, computer devices, as well as documents and other electronic evidence related to illegal betting.
The network was responsible for gambling worth VND1 trillion from the moment of its establishment until it was dismantled. The Can Tho City Police Investigation Agency has temporarily detained 13 suspects on allegations of gambling and organising gambling.
The Police Department of Ninh Binh Province has just released information that its Criminal Police Department, together with the Cyber Police Department, has uncovered the biggest online football betting ring. It used a Super Master account called JQK52 to create thousands of betting accounts. According to estimates, the organization processed bets worth over 900 billion VND or $33.8 million.
This crime was committed on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Da Nang Police reported that the Criminal Police broke down the cheating account of the ring at an estimated worth of 20 billion VND or $752,000 during the period of the football event. According to the results of their investigation, it was found out that Tran Trung Viet, born in 1980, was in charge of one Master account and then separated it into 4 Agents’ accounts.
They created 16 smaller betting accounts, each assigned to individual gamblers. It was said that from June 1 to July 2, the transactions of the ring were worth over 20 billion VND. On July 2, eight task forces from the police were deployed in the areas that were supposed to be involved in the ring for raiding and made arrests as well as taking nearly 12,000 pages of documents and evidence related to the fraud.
The investigation continues till now.
