Virginia records $52.9 million in casino revenue for January

The Virginia Lottery has unveiled the gaming revenue for January, that reached $52.9 million, with slots contributing $37.9 million and table games $14.9 million. Its findings are on the gaming activity at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Temporary Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Caesars Virginia. 

Rivers Casino Portsmouth raked in $23.5 million in revenue, with $15.6 million stemming from its 1,466 slots and $7.8 million from 81 table games. Meanwhile, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Temporary Bristol amassed $12 million, with $9.9 million attributed to its 911 slots and $2.1 million from 29 table games. Caesars Entertainment’s temporary casino in Danville reported $17.2 million in adjusted gross gaming revenue from 808 slot machines and 33 table games.

The Virginia Lottery Board granted the casino license for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Temporary Bristol in April 2022, with the temporary facility opening three months later at the former Bristol Mall site. Rivers Casino Portsmouth received its casino license approval in November 2022 and commenced operations on January 23. Caesars Virginia obtained its casino license approval in April 2023, with the temporary facility in Danville opening its doors on May 15, 2023.

Construction is underway for Caesars Virginia following its groundbreaking in August. With a budget of $650 million, this development will feature a 500-room hotel alongside a casino gaming floor boasting over 1,300 slots, 85 live table games, 24 electronic table games, a WSOP poker room, and a Caesars Sportsbook. Additionally, guests can enjoy amenities such as a spa, pool area, fitness center, and 40,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. An entertainment venue capable of accommodating up to 2,500 guests will also be part of the establishment.

The permanent Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol is slated to debut in the summer of 2024. This venue will boast a 3,200-seat performance venue and a sprawling outdoor entertainment space capable of hosting up to 20,000 people. Operating round-the-clock, the casino is anticipated to create between 1,200 to 1,500 job opportunities. The establishment will also feature two hotel towers, a pool, and various other amenities.
