The Wyoming Gaming Commission has issued a public alert regarding a surge in illegal online gambling platforms offering casino-style games to residents of the state.
While Wyoming law permits and regulates online sports betting and fantasy sports, real-money online casino games — including poker, blackjack, roulette, and slot machines — remain strictly prohibited.
Nevertheless, an increasing number of unlicensed websites and mobile apps continue to target Wyoming residents. Some of these platforms attempt to appear legitimate by registering as Wyoming-based LLCs or listing Wyoming addresses.
Nicholas Larramendy, Executive Director of the Commission said:
We want to make it absolutely clear. No online casino, iGaming, or sweepstakes site is licensed by the Wyoming Gaming Commission. All such operations are illegal in Wyoming.
Larramendy added that many of these illicit platforms are run from offshore locations, making enforcement difficult. While the Commission does take action when possible, its authority is limited when operators are based outside the United States.
In contrast, the legal and regulated market continues to grow. As of May 2024, Fanatics Sportsbook became the 21st operator to receive a license for online sports wagering in the state.
