Acquired by Betsson Group in June 2023, betFIRST, a prominent Belgian sports betting operator, recently unveiled its new online casino in collaboration with Middelkerke Casino, owned by the publicly listed French casino operator, Groupe Partouche.
In June 2023, Betsson acquired the Betfirst Group for €120.0m (£102.6m/$129.8m) and secured a partnership with Groupe Partouche for access to Belgium’s iGaming market.
The newly launched online casino, in collaboration with Middelkerke Casino, obtained an A+ casino license, positioning Betfirst to strive for leadership in Belgium’s online casino sector. This move follows Betfirst’s pioneering achievement as the first operator to secure an online betting license in Belgium after the market’s regulation in 2011.
Alexis Murphy, CEO of betFIRST said:
betFIRST already boasts the best performing and fastest sports-betting app in the Belgian market, and we aim to replicate this success with the most extensive mobile casino offering in Belgium.
Jesper Svenssen, CEO of Betsson Operations commented:
We acquired a market leader in Belgium last summer, and we are delighted that we are already able to add further value for the business through this unique partnership.
Fabrice Paire, CEO of Partouche said:
We will soon be opening what will be the most iconic casino in Belgium, housed in the landmark building constructed by the municipality of Middelkerke. It is only right that we partner with the leading Belgian betting and gaming operator to make a success of this new venture in both the physical and online world.
