The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has published its latest directives aimed at licensed gambling operators and suppliers who wish to close their businesses or choose to cease operations as per the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK), which is applicable in the country.
The guidelines apply both to entities operating in the B2C sector and the B2B sector, by clearly outlining the procedures that must be followed when voluntarily surrendering a license, revoking licenses, and closing down gaming websites and apps.
Operators who surrender the license willingly must add a letter, wherein the rationale for closing, the time of ceasing entertaining the customers and a report of the wind-down should be detailed. In case the operator’s license has been revoked or the application has been turned down, such companies must stop accepting gambling activities immediately and take steps to switch to the wind-down mode.
Furthermore, the CGA suggests that it can allow operators to close gambling websites or apps without canceling the overall license under condition they inform the CGA about the situation.
The CGA also sees the opportunity of co-operating with both local and foreign authorities in the to pursue companies that fail to meet their financial obligations, including unpaid player claims.
