A new licensing round has been initiated by the Danish Gambling Authority for casinos on land, and operators are required to apply before the deadline of 3 November 2026.
As part of the procedure, the licenses will be granted with the help of local authorities confirming the accuracy of the applications. The input of local police, relevant ministry related to taxation and the Ministry of Business will also be sought while checking the information received from the applicants.
It is provided for by Danish gambling regulation that licenses can be received only for a period of ten years.
While investigating the applications, the focus of the regulator will be on the willingness of operators to run their casinos legally and efficiently. The list of criteria allowing the assessment of applicants will involve their knowledge and experience in the gambling industry, as well as their ability to finance the business.
Information about the accessibility of the casino planned to be built will be also taken into account when assessing the applications.
