Fennica Gaming, a subsidiary of Veikkaus, has secured a gaming vendor licence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).
This licence permits Fennica to provide its games-as-a-service offering to licensed operators within the country, marking another milestone in its international expansion.
The company currently supplies games across 15 countries in three continents. Its most recent expansion before the UAE was in Greece, where it obtained a B2B licence from the Hellenic Gambling Commission.
Timo Kiiskinen, Managing Director at Fennica Gaming, mentioned:
Receiving the gaming-related vendor licence from the GCGRA is a significant step for Fennica Gaming as we continue to grow our global presence. The UAE represents a new dynamic market and for us a possibility to enter to a new continent and new markets. We are excited to contribute to the development of its regulated gaming sector with our trusted and innovative solutions.
The UAE awarded its first official gaming licence to The Game LLC in July 2024, followed by Wynn Resorts in October 2024, years after the latter had already begun building its casino hotel, first announced in 2022.
Top-tier suppliers such as Aristocrat, Novomatic, and IGT have also entered the market. Their presence reflects the UAE’s emerging status as a potentially lucrative gaming hub, with Gambling Insider recently suggesting it could someday rival even Macau in scale and profitability.
