Former Disney CFO Christine McCarthy joins Flutter board

Former Disney CFO Christine McCarthy has joined the board of directors of Flutter Entertainment, an online gambling company.

McCarthy served as Disney’s CFO from 2015 until June 2023, and then as a strategic adviser from July 2023 to June 2024. She announced her decision to step down in June 2023, citing a family medical leave of absence as the reason.

Flutter Entertainment owns several brands, including FanDuel, Paddy Power, PokerStars, Sky Betting & Gaming, Sisal, and Sportsbet. During her tenure at Disney, McCarthy worked closely with both Bob Iger and Bob Chapek. She supported various initiatives, including cost-cutting measures under Chapek, which drew attention during Iger’s second stint as CEO.

She has also served on the board of directors at Procter & Gamble since 2019, where she chairs the audit committee. Additionally, she is a director at FM Global and chairs its finance committee.

At Flutter Entertainment, McCarthy will join the audit committee of the board starting on July 30.

Flutter Entertainment has also appointed Robert Bennett, former director at Warner Bros. Discovery, to its board. Bennett will join Flutter’s risk and sustainability committee.

John Bryant, chair of the Flutter board said:

Christine and Dob’s extensive experience in the entertainment industry will be an invaluable asset to Flutter as we continue to extend our leading position as a global online sports betting and iGaming provider. We look forward to welcoming both Dob and Christine to the board as non-executive directors and benefiting from their unique perspective and industry knowledge.
