Google expands programmatic gambling ads to 37 markets

Google will change the policies for its Authorized Buyers program which will become effective from the 10 of August, 2026. According to the new policy, gambling ads will be allowed in 37 more markets, while advertisers’ certification will not be necessary in most markets.

This policy change applies only to Google’s advertising platforms, which include AdSense, Google Ad Manager, and AdMob and is not related to Google Ads, whose gambling policy will remain the same.

In compliance with the new rules, ads related to the online gambling industry will be allowed in the 37 new markets, which include the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Netherlands, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Turkey, Japan, South Korea and Russia.

The list of gambling categories available for the advertisers was also expanded to include online casinos, sports betting, bingo, and various types of online gambling, such as online lotteries, scratch cards, and gambling games with cryptocurrencies.

In the newly added markets, advertisers will not have to go for Google’s gambling certification if their ads comply with the requirements of local legislation.

Google warned the publishers that the policy change might lead to the increased number of gambling ads on the publishers’ sites. Publishers using AdSense can limit or block gambling ads through their existing content blocking controls.

The changes come as Google takes different approaches across its advertising products. While it is easing certification requirements for programmatic advertising, the company is tightening its Google Ads gambling policy, with updated certification requirements for all Gambling and Games advertisers scheduled to take effect on 14 September 2026, alongside stricter oversight of advertiser accounts and manager (MCC) accounts.
