On October 7, Google published updates on its policies regarding online gambling ads on YouTube.
Starting from October 21, YouTube will allow online gambling ads in Masthead. Permission will be available for advertisers certified under the Gambling Regulations.
According Google, this consent does not concern online gambling advertising representatives that do not need to sign up for the gambling regulation authorities on the state and federal level. By doing so, it enhances the existing rules of the platform allowing sports betting advertisements.
All advertisements concerning online gambling must abide by gambling regulations and all laws, regions, and age limitations.
The Masthead will remain closed to companies that do not offer gambling games themselves but merely promote them, such as affiliates.
This rule applies in countries or states where such companies are not required to register with a gambling regulator. All other requirements of Google’s gambling policy, including jurisdictional and age restrictions, remain in effect.
