The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to 13 offshore gambling websites operating illegally in the state.
According to the MGCB, these platforms were offering gambling services without the required Michigan licenses and unlawfully targeting residents in the state.
Websites named include:
Captain Jack Casino
Casino Brango
Ducky Luck Casino
El Royale Casino
Jazz Casino
Jazz Sports Casino
Racebook, Looselines
Planet 7 Casino
Red Dog Casino
Royal Oak Casino
Silver Oak Casino
Skybook
Slots of Vegas
These sites are based outside the U.S., operating from jurisdictions such as Curaçao, Costa Rica, and the Autonomous Island of Anjouan.
The MGCB noted that the platforms accepted various payment methods, including credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrencies. However, they often imposed restrictive withdrawal conditions, such as steep wagering requirements, making it difficult for players to access their winnings. These practices, according to the MGCB, put users at risk of financial exploitation and diminish the fairness of the games offered.
Additionally, the board emphasized that these websites do not comply with Michigan’s strict standards for responsible gambling, consumer protection, or cybersecurity, increasing the risk of fraud and identity theft for players.
Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB, mentioned:
These illegal gambling websites put Michigan residents at significant personal and financial risk.
Our priority is to maintain a secure and regulated gaming environment. These websites not only violate Michigan`s laws but also engage in deceptive practices that endanger consumers, including withholding winnings and imposing unfair wagering requirements.
