In April, online betting generated $65.5 million in sports wagering revenue in Massachusetts.
The state’s sports betting sector experienced year-on-year growth, with overall revenue reaching $65.9 million-34.2% higher than April 2024 and 25.8% above March 2025. However, monthly betting activity (handle) dipped slightly to $690.3 million, down 4.5% from March, despite a 14.4% rise compared to last year. Online wagers totaled $680.5 million, while retail sportsbooks brought in $9.7 million, contributing just $486,828 in revenue.
The statewide hold for the month stood at 9.55%. DraftKings remained the top online operator, reporting $37.8 million in revenue from $343 million in bets (11.02% hold). FanDuel followed with $17.9 million from $185.9 million (9.63% hold), and BetMGM ranked third with $3.9 million from $55.1 million (7.08% hold). Fanatics posted $3.1 million in revenue on a $49.3 million handle (6.3% hold), while ESPN Bet also surpassed the $1 million mark with $1.8 million from $21.7 million (4.61% hold).
Among retail sportsbooks, Encore Boston Harbor led with $372,527 in revenue from $5 million in bets (7.52% hold). Plainridge Casino earned $114,301 on $3.1 million (3.65%), while MGM Springfield reported no revenue from $1.6 million in wagers.
In the land-based casino sector, total gaming revenue was $102.1 million, up 4.7% year-on-year but down 2.9% from March. Slots brought in $71.1 million and table games $31 million. Encore Boston Harbor led with $63.5 million, followed by MGM Springfield at $23.5 million and Plainridge Park at $15.1 million.
The state collected $42.3 million in gambling taxes during March, including $13.2 million from sports betting and $26.2 million from casino operations.
