MGA to host its first Sports Betting Integrity Conference

The inaugural Sports Betting Integrity Conference, hosted by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), underscores the Authority’s unwavering commitment to promoting transparency and combatting corruption within the gaming sector.

This milestone event brought together prominent stakeholders from various spheres crucial to sports betting integrity, including esteemed entities such as the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), the eSports Integrity Commission (ESIC), Genius Sports, and Sportradar.

Notably, local stakeholders such as the Malta Police Force, the Malta Football Association (MFA), the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sports, and the Office of the Attorney General also participated, reflecting a comprehensive approach to addressing integrity concerns at both national and international levels.

In his opening address, MGA CEO Charles Mizzi emphasized that safeguarding the integrity of sports betting transcends mere regulatory compliance—it embodies the essence of the Authority’s commitment to nurturing an equitable and sustainable gaming ecosystem.

Mr. Mizzi underscored the primary goal of the conference: to spearhead a unified front in tackling the multifaceted challenges associated with preserving integrity in sports and sports betting. As the industry undergoes rapid evolution, marked by the advent of new technologies and increasingly sophisticated methodologies, collective action and knowledge-sharing become indispensable for staying ahead of those seeking to undermine the integrity of sports and wagering.

Such collaborative forums serve as invaluable platforms for pooling resources, exchanging insights, and disseminating best practices, thereby catalyzing positive change within the industry. The MGA extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participants for their active engagement and contributions toward advancing the shared mission of ensuring integrity and fairness in sports betting.
