The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is stepping up its efforts to combat gambling-related harm, unveiling new initiatives to enhance player protection during Gambling Awareness Month this March.
A key development is the upcoming launch of a self-assessment tool to help people assess their gambling habits and access tailored support. First announced during Safer Gaming Week in November, the initiative is now in its final stages, with the MGA working to ensure meaningful help is provided to those who need it.
The Authority is also continuing to strengthen its governance and oversight. By increasing the monitoring of self-exclusion systems and deepening the analysis of player protection mechanisms, the MGA is refining its approach to mitigating gambling-related harm.
The MGA said:
Collaboration remains central to our mission. We work closely with the Responsible Gaming Foundation and Aġenzija Appoġġ to further facilitate knowledge sharing. Next month we will hold the next workshop as part of our ongoing series of focus groups with local NGOs. “These sessions enhance the transparency of our regulatory approach in both the remote and land-based sectors, while addressing emerging concerns for support seekers.
By adopting an evidence-based approach and collaborating with international partners, the MGA remains steadfast in its commitment to reducing gambling-related harm and enhancing player protection.
