MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have announced a joint donation of over $1 million to responsible gambling initiatives in celebration of Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
As part of the pledge, the companies are committing $450,000 to fund a three-year independent research study through the International Center for Responsible Gambling. The peer-reviewed study will examine sports wagering behavior, focusing on decision-making patterns, risk factors, and the broader impact of betting activity across different player groups. The findings are expected to inform prevention strategies and strengthen industry-wide responsible gaming policies.
In addition to research funding, MGM Resorts and BetMGM plan to donate more than $850,000 in 2026 to state and national organizations dedicated to the prevention and treatment of problem gambling.
Throughout March and beyond, both brands will amplify responsible gaming messaging across retail casinos, sportsbooks, and digital platforms through the GameSense program, developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. More than 2,000 employees have completed GameSense Advisor training to support informed player engagement. Additional initiatives include targeted email campaigns, guest surveys, participation in the annual Gambling Disorder Screening Day organized by Cambridge Health Alliance, and continued involvement in the American Gaming Association’s “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly.” campaign.
The companies stated that the expanded investment reflects their long-term commitment to player protection, education, and data-driven responsible gaming strategies across North America.
