Mozzartbet Group, Serbian iGaming operator, announced that it will stop its operations under MGA licence from October 1, 2026.
It will close the Mozzart.com brand and its affiliate programme, and put its money into markets where it holds a domestic licence.
By withdrawing its license, one of the more prominent brands in the Balkans has been eliminated from the group of MGA-endorsed operators in the region, in addition, the withdrawal follows the pattern which has led to similar moves by several companies in grey markets over the last two years: a Maltese permit gives access to markets where the operator is regarded with tolerance while a local license opens the doors to the market where the operator is welcome, and the latter is becoming more valuable as enforcement is getting stricter.
The operator held the licence in Maltese market since 2019. It is the secon doperator of the month that decided to cease operating under its Malta Gaming Authority licence, as it is no longer effective.
The main reason is the priority of domestic markets. Mozzartbet was founded in 2001 in Belgrade. Its licensed operations in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania and North Macedonia, and in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria, continue unchanged.
Mozzart operates in nations with fast regulations. Serbia, Croatia, and Romania have granted domestic licenses to the operating companies and taxing them according to the law. Thus, the proprietor of the brand has spent two decades building the retail chain and brand in the market. The brand with a .com name which operates according to a Maltese license and aims at customers in the mentioned countries and the neighboring countries competes with the locally licensed brands of Mozzart at a higher regulatory risk.
Last week, MGA published its latest list of 11 website URLs that are not holding a licence. According to the Malta Gaming Authority, it has nothing to do with the 11 websites that were located in August 2026.
