Malta Gaming Authority to unveil new player self-assessment tool

Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has introduced a new online Self-Assessment Tool designed to help players reflect on their gambling habits and behaviour. Available in English and Maltese, the tool is free and fully anonymous.

Developed in collaboration with Sedqa, Caritas Malta, OASI Foundation and Responsible Gaming Foundation, the tool is based on the widely used Problem Gambling Severity Index. It features a nine-question survey aimed at evaluating a player’s gambling patterns while also considering social and environmental factors.

The MGA explained that the tool is designed to make self-reflection simple and accessible, encouraging players to consider whether professional support might be helpful. It can be accessed via the Player Hub on the MGA website.

If results suggest a need for further assistance, users are directed to one of the partner organisations for guidance and care. The platform also offers information on safer gambling tools such as limit-setting and global bet-blocking options.

The regulator described the launch as part of its broader commitment to player protection. Through collaboration with support organisations in Malta and Gozo, the initiative aims to ensure that individuals affected by gambling-related harm are informed and supported.

Players are encouraged to use the tool regularly to track their behaviour and stay aware of any changes over time.
