The Cyprus National Betting Authority has announced the launch of a week-long campaign to promote safe gambling.
Under the slogan “Safety is the real hero in every game”, the event will run from 7 to 13 October and will include activities to raise awareness of the harms of gambling.
The regulator said its aim is to inform the public about the ways in which players can seek help and treatment if they feel their gambling is getting out of control. The programme will include a range of activities, from presentations and educational workshops to practical seminars and interactive games to engage the public.
National Betting Authority Chairperson Ioanna Fiakkou said:
Through information, we aim to prevent harmful consequences and create a protective environment for players and society.
The event will take place ahead of the European Safe Gambling Week 2024, which will be held under the auspices of the EGBA and will take place from 18 to 24 November. The annual joint initiative aims to raise awareness of safer gambling in Europe and facilitate discussions on player protection among gambling operators, regulators, support organisations and expert experience.
