Scientific Games has commenced the search for a new CEO following its long-serving Pat McHugh announcement of retiring in September.
McHugh has been CEO since April 2022, having previously worked in various key leadership roles at Scientific Games.
He will become vice chair and strategic adviser of the company. Until the completion of his transition period, McHugh will continue to be the CEO and will be replaced by Kevin Schneider who will become the new temporary CEO.
Pat McHugh said:
Announcing my retirement now allows the board to conduct an open search for the best leader to guide the company through its next phase of growth while ensuring a smooth leadership transition. Scientific Games has an experienced leadership team, talented employees and a bright future. I look forward to seeing it continue serving lotteries around the world.
Scientific Games chairman David Nowak praised McHugh’s contribution, saying:
Throughout his career, Pat has helped strengthen the company, expand its global lottery business and build trusted relationships with customers around the world.
Scientific Games expressed confidence in Schneider’s ability to lead the company during the transition period.

Schneider joined the Scientific Games board in 2022 and became vice chair in March 2026. He brings more than 35 years of executive experience, including leadership roles at Genworth Financial, where he served as chief operating officer and led its mortgage insurance divisions.
