Entain expresses its desire to enter Brazil again if the online gaming market resumes operations, significantly despite being faced with a 36% decrease in NGR in Brazil year on year in Q3 2026.
During a conference call with analysts, CEO Stella David mentioned the company would return if conditions regarding regulations were more distinct, in order for it to apply investment decisions depending on market situations.
CEO Stella David said:
Entain’s revenue from Brazil registered a decline of 36% in Q3, which the company attributes to the introduction of disciplined marketing during the period of complicated issues appearing on the market. The decrease in revenue occurs before an immediate online gambling ban on September 25 initiated by the Brazilian government.
Sportingbet Could Support a Return
David said that Sportingbet, Entain’s well-known brand in Brazil, might be in a good position if the market reopens its doors with new regulations. 70% of the business of the brand is sports-related, which might give the company an edge in case if Brazil allows sports betting but doesn’t permit other types of gambling products.
Entain does not currently expect to reapply for its Brazilian licence if the market reopens, although David said the company would adapt to the eventual framework.
The company is preparing for several possible outcomes as the provisional measure approaches its 120-day deadline. David also cited Brazil’s political developments as an uncertainty affecting the market’s future.
