Spillemyndigheden spending on gambling increased in Dec 2023

The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) has released its December statistics for the betting, online casino, slot machines, and land-based casino sectors. The data reveals a collective increase of 22.6 percent across these areas compared to December 2022.

In December 2023, the total Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) for betting, online casino, slot machines, and land-based casino reached DKK 665 million, reflecting a significant 22.6 percent surge from the same period in 2022.

This overall growth is primarily fueled by rises in GGR for betting, online casino, and land-based casino, although there has been a slight downturn in slot machines.

The notable 67 percent increase in bets needs to be understood in the context of a slightly lower rate of return in December 2023 compared to December 2022.

With these latest figures, the GGR for the entire year of 2023 is now available for betting, online casino, slot machines, and land-based casino.

In 2023, the total GGR for these sectors amounted to DKK 6,795 million, marking a modest 1.0 percent increase from 2022 at current prices.
